BEING A GOD’S SET-MAN FOR THE CONGREGATION: IT’S A MINISTERIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY!
SCRIPTURAL THOUGHTS WORTH PONDERING IN CONTEXT:
“And Moses spake unto the Lord, saying, 16 Let the Lord, the God of the spirits of all flesh, SET A MAN over the CONGREGATION, 17 which may GO OUT before them, and which may GO IN before them, and which may LEAD them out, and which may BRING them in; that the CONGREGATION of the Lord be not as SHEEP which have no SHEPHERD” Number 27:15-17.
“Beside those things that are WITHOUT, that which cometh upon me DAILY, THE CARE of all the CHURCHES” 2 Corinthians 11:28.
“And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward: 5 not that we are SUFFICIENT of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our SUFFICIENCY is of God; 6 who also hath MADE us ABLE MINISTERS of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life” 2 Corinthians 3:4-6.
“Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have RECEIVED mercy, we FAINT NOT; 2 but have RENOUNCED the hidden things of dishonesty, not WALKING in craftiness, nor HANDLING the word of God deceitfully; but by MANIFESTATION of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God . . . 5 For we PREACH NOT OURSELVES, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your SERVANTS for Jesus’ sake. 6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 7 But we have this TREASURE IN EARTHEN VESSELS, that the EXCELLENCY OF THE POWER may be of God, and not of us . . . 16 For which cause we FAINT NOT; but though our OUTWARD MAN PERISH, yet the INWARD MAN IS RENEWED day by day. 17 For our LIGHT AFFLICTION, which is but for a moment, WORKETH FOR US a far MORE EXCEEDING AND ETERNAL weight of glory; 18 while we LOOK NOT AT THE THINGS WHICH ARE SEEN, BUT AT THE THINGS WHICH ARE NOT SEEN: for the things which are SEEN ARE TEMPORAL; but the things which are NOT SEEN ARE ETERNAL” 2 Corinthians 4:1-18.
“Go, STAND and SPEAK in the temple to the people ALL THE WORDS of this life” Acts 5:20.
“And I will GIVE you PASTORS according to mine heart, which shall FEED you with KNOWLEDGE and UNDERSTANDING” Jeremiah 3:15.
“And he GAVE some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 for THE PERFECTING of the saints, for THE WORK of the ministry, for THE EDIFYING of the body of Christ: 13 till we all come in THE UNITY of the faith, and of THE KNOWLEDGE of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto THE MEASURE of the stature of the fulness of Christ: 14 that we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15 but speaking THE TRUTH in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: 16 from whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love” Ephesians 4:11-16.
“So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, LOVEST THOU ME MORE THAN THESE? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, FEED MY LAMBS. 16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, LOVEST THOU ME? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, FEED MY SHEEP. 17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, LOVEST THOU ME? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, FEED MY SHEEP. 18 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not. 19 This spake he, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, FOLLOW ME” John 21:15-19.
