MOTHER’S DAY ’08
I’ve been inspired to entitled 2008 Mother’s Day, ‘The great impart of a Genuine Mother’s Faith’’.
2 Tim. 1:3-7 ‘’ I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day;
Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy;
When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also. Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind’’
Prov. 31:10-31 ‘Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
Strength and honor are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
Her children rise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates’’.
I thank God for another opportunity to stir up every mother’s spirit. It’s my prayer that during this period of Mothers’ Day, every mother comes to a reasonable understanding of how powerful their FAITH in God is to this generation. That’s far more than receiving mere gifts, cards, special meals and outings.
Any woman can be a mum, but it takes a great hearted-spirit to be a mother, much more a significant mother in the life of a person. The book of wisdom, Proverbs 31:10-31 makes a very important remark in verses 10 and 28 which I have coined ‘’A genuine mother’s Faith who can find? For her price is far above rubies’’
Motherhood is a highly favoured calling affecting all that pertains to this life and godliness, hence Apostle Paul wasted no time reminding Timothy to reject such mothers that have no genuine faith and not to give such also an opportunity to destroy his destiny. 1Tim.4:7-8:
‘’But refuse profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come’’.
While in 1 Tim. 1:3-5, he recalls the ’GENUINE FAITH’ of Timothy’s grandmother Lois and mother Eunice, which apostle Paul saw in Timothy supposing to be from his mothers’.
As Mother’s day is cherished today, especially here in England, it’s worth pondering on your Faith if you’re a mother. Being a mother is a major responsibility and not just only a place of honour and dignity. For in motherhood, there destiny of life is made, nations evolve, hence the kind of FAITH you communicate from your life and nucleus family is the faith that shapes the world.
Philemon 3-6: ‘’Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers, Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints; That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus’’.
When mothers have ‘Genuine Faith’ in God, the Family, Church, community and nations are honoured and dignified.
Heb. 11:11 ‘’ Through faith also Sarah herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised’’
Prov. 10:1 ‘’The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother’’
Prov.15:20 ‘’ Whoso curseth his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness’’
Prov.17:25 ‘’ A foolish son is a grief to his father, and bitterness to her that bore him’’.
When mothers take their God given place like Deborah of old, nation’s dignities are respected as in the book of Judges 4 and 5.
Like Timothy’s mothers, Lois and Eunice, I plead with you to ARISE, take your motherhood dream and place it in ‘GENUINE FAITH’ to Achieve God’s purpose in your life. Your genuine faith in God and God can make it together building a loving family, triumphant Church safe community and a moral godly nation. For when you WIN your family, you’ve won your world. Hence I challenge that you, NEVER GIVE UP, for you are a winner and your dreams are achievable with God.
Have a lovely MOTHER’S DAY CELEBRATION while always have in mind that Great Mother . . . Genuine Faith . . . Blessed Heritage as LOIS – EUNICE – TIMOTHY!
